This year the best Christmas present I received was a DVD of the seminal early 70s cooking show Cooking Price Wise, for years a piece of lost media, recently rediscovered, restored and released by the BFI to the delight Vincent Price obsessives, people who enjoy camp things that shouldn’t exist, and gourmets (except definitely not that last one). The person gifting it to me watched as I unwrapped it, and said nervously ‘you probably already have this’ which would be a fair thing to presume about me because at one point I had five copies of the Cooking Price Wise companion recipe book (all of them gifted to me) and, earlier in the year, the gifter had watched as I, in character as Vincent Price with a little moustache drawn on me, served him insane 70s food at an entirely Cooking Price Wise themed dinner party.
